This antibody reacts with the CD235a antigen, which is directed against the alpha-chain of glycophorin. In indirect agglutination tests this monoclonal antibody reacts with normoblasts and erythrocytes. No reaction occurs with En(a-) erythrocytes and other normal peripheral blood cells.

CD235a, clone HI234, is a mAb intended for the identification of human RBCs and embryoid precursors (mature & non-nucleated red cells). This reagent is effective for direct IF staining of human tissue for FCM analysis using ≤1 μg/10^6 cells.
